PASSION FOR HELPING STUDENTS AND ASSISTING EDUCATOR
My past academic experience reflects my passion of service in the field of education. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Wiley College, also known as Home of the Great Debaters, located in Marshall, TX. After graduating in Dec. 2000, I began teaching in the Dallas Independent School District for the next eight years. During the end of my work experience with DISD, I focused on imparting my teaching gift to students who exhibited consistent behavioral challenges. By 2009, I was promoted by the Cedar Hill Independent School as an Instructional Coach in their Mentor Program. This position was delightful because I was able to collaborate with teachers to create a less stressful and productive classroom environment. I incorporated many counseling skills during this opportunity after earning my Master of Education in Counseling from Texas A&M-Commerce. During this time, I was afforded the opportunity to become a District Presenter rendering Professional Development Sessions for elementary and high school educators.
I have a passion to help struggling teachers and students. In the past, I have assisted teachers that struggle with classroom management, aligning state standards with curriculum, building teacher, student, and parent relationships. Also, I have aided teachers in understanding how to plan according to their data while staying motivated to do so as a novice or seasoned educator.
Academic Accomplishments
While serving in South Oak Cliff Feeder Pattern, we earned double-digit gains in every subject and in each subgroup on their State Assessment. My personal experience of collaborating with other instructional coaches, administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders resulted in the entire feeder pattern meeting state standards. Within one year, my campus moved from 33 out of 44 in Index 2 (Student Growth) to 4th in their comparison group.
